How My Link Helper's Free Link Management Tool Works

My Link Helper's Link Management Tool was created for individual website owners and professional website managers who have the desire to simplify their links management.

    How Our Links Manager Works

Our link management service allows you complete control of your resource page(s) through control of your categories, sub-categories and link partners. You create the categories for your directory and add any existing link partners (manually, use our link extractor, or by uploading your link data); the information is then stored within our database. When a visitor comes to your website and requests to view your links directory a call is made to our service and the results of that call are returned to your links page in HTML format. If that same visitor would like to join your directory then we provide you with a custom link submission form for them to submit their website information to your directory. The submitted information is then either approved or denied by you, the administrator. Simple, fast, accurate and completely under your control!

For Existing Websites With Link Partners

Step 1 - Create Your Account - The first step in the process is to create your account with us. If you already have an account with us you can associate your existing website with your primary account and manage all of your websites in one place.

Step 2 - Upload Your Link Data - The easiest way to integrate your exising website and link partners into our system is to create and upload a links file of your existing link partners. For information about the link file upload please see our Upload Requirements. The information you provide in your link file upload will create all of your existing link information for use within MyLinkHelper's link manager. If you provide Category and Sub-Category Names they will be automatically created for you and the links within the categories will be placed within the appropriate category.

Step 2a - Extract Your Link Data - If you have a hard-coded (manually entered) links page you can run our link extractor and automatically capture your old link data for use with your new links management account.

Step 3 - Generate Your Link Script - Within your link management control panel you will see a link which says "Get My Link Code". Select the type of programming language your website uses (ASP, PHP, ASPx) and the desired format for the display of your links directory.

Step 4 - Insert Your Link Script Into Your Website - Copy and paste the link script into the top of your links page and place the "<%=GetLinks%>" or "<?=$GetLinks?>" tag into the location within your webpage that you would like to have your link directory displayed.

Step 5 - Adjust The Look and Feel - (Optional) You can adjust how you would like your links page to look. If you have fewer than 40 link partners you may want to display your resources on a single links page. To change the output of your link directory to show everything on the same page change the value of "ShowAsSinglePage" to "1". If you are going to display your resources in directory style you can adjust the number of columns you want to display on your main directory page by changing the value of "DirectoryCols". Valid values for this parameter are ("1","2","3","4").

Step 6 - Test Your Page - Open your new links directory page to ensure that your directory is displaying in the proper position.

Step 7 - Adjust Colors and Or Sizing - Being that we allow you to take complete control over the look of your links page depending on the settings you have applied to your site you may or may not need to adjust the display of your links directory. If your link directory doesn't look the way you would like it to, then please see our How to Customize My Link Display resources.

    For Brand New Websites

Step 1 - Create Your Account - The first step in the process is to create your account with us. If you already have an account with us you can associate your new website with your primary account and manage all of your websites in one place.

Step 2 - Create Your Categories - Once you have created your account you will have access to your link control panel. Once you confirm your email address and log into our service your next step should be creating link categories which are relevant to the products or services you provide.
